Social Skills Group

Many of us take it for granted that we know how close to stand to someone, how to interact and make friends with others or how to tell someone what we are thinking without offending them. But for some kids, the opposite is true!

This is particularly true for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our social skills groups aim to teach children these basic skills so as they can function better and happily in everyday activities.

The groups teach children how to share, take turns, how to respond and react to others appropriately, verbal and nonverbal communication, body language and facial expressions.

Who will benefit from the group?

All Abilities Social Skills Groups are aimed at children who are often prefer independent play, seem disinterested in making friends or have difficulty making or maintaining friends. It isn’t true that they don’t want to make friends, usually more accurate to say they don’t understand how to make friends. They don’t understand others’ body language or how to respond to a situation. They often feel like they may as well be speaking another language for all the progress they make.
